KeyairNico + KNH Brand

Brand Architecture and Creative Direction

Summary

When KeyairNico launched her salon, she was the brand. As the business grew, that became a challenge: her personal brand and the salon brands had become so closely connected that it was difficult for people to separate the CEO from the stylist. The goal wasn't just to take new headshots. It was to create a clear brand hierarchy that positioned KeyairNico as the visionary behind the businesses while allowing each salon to develop its own identity.

The Challenge

  • Brand Entanglement: Separating the personal identity of the founder from the daily operations of her salon so both could scale independently.

  • Perception Shift: Transitioning public and client perception of KeyairNico from a hands-on service provider to a high-level executive and entrepreneur.

  • Conceptual Storytelling: Creating visual assets that felt deeply tied to her roots while also displaying her professional evolution.

The Strategy & Approach

I led the creative direction for the rebrand, developing the visual concept, art direction, and photoshoot strategy. Every decision was intentional, from the wardrobe to the set design to the custom props. We even repurposed old salon equipment, transforming blow dryers into sculptural floral installations that reflected both her industry expertise and her evolution as a business owner.

My role included:

  • Brand Architecture Strategy: Designing a clear hierarchy to separate the founder's executive brand from the individual salon entities.

  • Creative Direction & Visual Concepting: Developing the overarching aesthetic, mood boards, and thematic direction for the rebrand.

  • Art Direction & Set Design: Overseeing the photoshoot strategy, including wardrobe curation, custom prop creation, and sculptural installations.

  • Executive Asset Production: Curating high-impact visual assets tailored for an executive-level digital presence.

The Impact

The project successfully established a healthy structural separation between the founder and her businesses, giving her visuals that matched the role she had already grown into.

  • Distinct Executive Presence: Delivered a refined visual identity that clearly positioned KeyairNico as a visionary CEO and entrepreneur.

  • Healthy Brand Separation: Created a sustainable framework that allows her personal brand and individual salon brands to operate and scale independently.

  • Narrative-Driven Visuals: Produced powerful, memorable brand assets that told a cohesive story of professional growth and artistic evolution.
